The Old Finger Trick

My father used to 'perform' this trick for me and my siblings and any other unsuspecting innocent that he wanted to befuddle and amuse. I have done it myself for the kids of friends I encountered and it really is fascinating the varied responses you get. Some look on in complete wonder. Some are shocked. Some jump in a grab your hands to unveil your deception. Others come right out and say that it is just plain stupid or dumb.

I am curious as to its prevalence in other countries and cultures.

just looking thru some old posts... sorry I never replied to this. My dad used to do this finger trick too, always freaked me out! (even tho I quickly caught onto the deception!)

Hi Mooky,

I am from Romania, East Europe.
My father used to do this trick a lot to us as children. First time when see it I started to cry being sure that he broke his finger. He needed to teach me how to do it only to convince me that is a trick. And then I started do it for my friends.
It's an usual trick here.
... so, it's everywhere
